I would like to introduce myself; my name is Evelyn Deck Roberson, and I am a native of Rutherford County. My true love is painting large Murals, and my most recent work is the nursery at Salem United Methodist Church in Bostic, N.C. I enjoy the freedom of making large strokes and mixing color, and I make my palette of colors to work with the surroundings in the room. My past jobs of working with textile designers for thirteen years and going to High Point Furniture Market has exposed me to many ideas. I would like you to know my other work experience are: Teaching adult/children's art, High School Art for a year, working in a textile design department over thirteen years using graphic design to design furniture upholstery, wall-hangings and pillows. My education background started with art lessons from Mildred Lawler from Elementary age through High School. I have graduated from East Carolina University with a BA, majoring in Painting. I took many classes in textiles, weaving, batik, silkscreening and direct dye painting, plus Art Education. I took exposure work classes in handmade paper, pottery, printmaking, and sculpture. My Foundation courses were drawing, figure drawing, art history and philosophy of art. Art has always been a part of me, and I am a founding member of Rutherford Visual Arts Guild. |
